The 92%

The government didn't break this industry. We handed them the evidence.

92% of cosmetology schools are about to lose federal funding. And before we organize a protest, we need to sit with what we actually built.

We recruited people with a dream. We handed them $20,000 in debt. We put them behind a chair, and we called it an opportunity.

We never taught them how to price a service profitably. We never taught them the difference between revenue and take-home pay. We never taught them how to build a book that sustains a real income, not just a full schedule. We never taught them how to consult... How to retain... How to grow... We taught them the craft, and we skipped the calling. Then we watched them struggle financially and blamed the government's earnings data.

The measurement is broken... the proposed solution is wrong. I'm not defending the rule, but this industry does not get to be outraged about being examined when we have spent decades producing exactly the outcomes being examined.

The real fix isn't a comment to a regulator. It's legislation. It's curriculum reform. It's a law that requires verified business and financial literacy as a mandatory component of every Title IV-eligible cosmetology program, at the foundation level. That's what we're fighting for. Because every person we recruited into this industry with a dream and no roadmap deserved better from us. They still do!

If you lead a cosmetology school, run a CTE program, or own a salon, you already know this is true. The question is what you're willing to do about it.

Aurisyn™ was built for this moment. We're developing the Applied Beauty Sciences curriculum framework that puts business literacy, financial fluency, and professional identity at the core of cosmetology education, not as an elective, but as the foundation. This is the work, and we need industry leaders at the table.
